My Mentor

R.D. Jones... 86 yrs. old and can run circles around me! In our Bible Study I made the note God would rather me do a few things excellently than 100 things good. I had to stop and think on this...before I had just read an email I had gotten on Are You Busy? - the end said that the word busy:
B eing
U nder
S atans
Y oke
R.D. is an amazing Christian - I love to just go with him and watch him - He has a true gift with people. He watches all the time for someone in need. He constantly is giving - showing up with a "baked hen" (his name for roasted chicken), or watermelons, sonic burgers for shut ins. If someone is in the hospital, you can bet R.D. will be by for a visit. When Treg and I go with him some as we call going on "a good deed", everyone knows R.D. - He doesn't limit his good works for just church members - it's anyone in need. He isn't this honey sweet type, he is as honery as me! He will mess up the little old ladies hair or make a joke, slap you on the arm - but I can promise you he touches their hearts and he is loved for that. After one of our outings, Treg being a teenager not real excited about going to see old folks - when we got home, well Treg received the blessing from it and I think he realized in giving to others -it's not about us. I have to be careful that I don't try to "work" for my righteousness, and remember that I am not doing this for human approval. I also have to careful not to be so "busy" doing good deeds that my heart is just going through the motions. Love is the key, without love.... to God I am just a resounding gong. Read 1 Corinthians 13 Balance - Humility - Realizing we are called to serve. In tough times, we have a choice....to sit and dwell on our problems and focusing on self (looking in) or we can pray for God to open our eyes to see someone in need and go to them with so much love in our hearts it pours into theirs. I am so thankful for the people that God has put in my life to help me in my walk with Christ. luv ya, pl

it is a hard line to walk...not working FOR our salvation, but working OUT our salvation. I SO enjoyed visiting with you Saturday!!! Good post!

Why Christ is my Passion

The more I seek Christ in my walk, the more I find Him -
Psalm 18:1-2
I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
thank u Jesus
